First Class Graduates from Anambra State become instant millionaires
Governor doles out N200million on students, erects a tradition of making millionaires off new A-students
160 million first class graduates gathered at the Ekwueme Square, Awka, Anambra state yesterday with no idea they were going to be millionaires with the incumbent governor Peter Obi was in attendance. Most of the invited students were excited in having to attend the same event with a serving governor but only into the middle of the event before they realized their fortune was going to change. Their sleepless nights would eventually pay off, in a million naira each.
The governor presented a symbolic cheque of N160million to the Secretary to the state - who is charged with disbursing a million naira each to the 160 students from Anambra state. The governor's gesture was to reward excellence and boost the morale of students of the state across the country.
It would be a tradition with the Anambra government as Obi discloses that he had took his time to ‘teach’ the in-coming governor, Chief Willie Obiano all that was necessary for him to sustain the tempo of development
It just pays to be an A-student from Anambra. As he also announce N40 million for youths who have been trained in the state's skill acquisition programme.
The reward would be paid directly into the students across and to serve as start-up capital for their various trades.
